I researched a grind and brew coffee maker for 3 months before purchasing this one. I'm thrilled with it. I used to work at prominent kitchenware store and didn't hear good customer reviews about the Cusineart Grind and Brew and the Capresso.... The Melitta makes a great cup of coffee, it's easy to use, grinds the beans quickly and you get your choice of course to super fine. The only programing is easy as is the clean up...no hassle which was important to me. The only thing I have noticed is that you need to use more scoops of beans than specified. (I make 4 cups each morning and use about 3 scoops of beans for strong coffee)...

My Cuisinart Grind and Brew died recently, and I was kind of on the fence about getting another mill and brew machine. I love the concept, and I like the fresh coffee, but the old machine was a pain to clean, and I wasn't too keen on dropping a full benjamin to get the same machine. I'd gone back to my old drip machine and separate grinder until the grinder broke.I decided to get this machine because A)[the cost is reasonable] B) it's mill and brew for about what a decent drip machine goes for, and C) I've got a Melitta espresso machine, and have been really pleased at the quality/price with that. I've had it for about two weeks, and have the following observations 1. The coffee is excellent. It might just be the mesh filter, but this is good java. 2. It's exceedingly easy to clean. Only two parts get coffee grounds on them - the filter basket, and the flat lid to the filter basket. Much better than my last machine, where there were three complex shaped parts which each got grounds on them. 3. Compared to either the handheld grinder or the old machine, it's quiet. With the old machine, it was honestly impossible to have a conversation while it was grinding. This one makes noise, but not to the point where conversation is impossible. 4. The footprint is about the same as a regular coffee maker. My one gripe with the machine is the lack of ability to set warmer temperature. I generally like to keep my coffee at the lower end of hot.

First of all, it is NOT a mill -- it is a wing-tipped blade grinder. We got a Braun mill because it does not heat up the grounds like a ginder does. Why pay for expensive coffee and then ruin it in a grinder? The mill is noisy and it's a bit messy transferring the grounds to the cone filter of our cheap coffee maker ... so we thought we'd give this thing a try. We followed all directions, cleaned it twice before using. The only good thing about it is the convenience of having it grind the beans right into the filter. The controls were nice too. But cleaning this thing is worse than anything -- worse than resuable gold or plastic filters, because removing and replacing the basket is a delicate, two-handed operation. And from what I've read, things easily break. I'm no dummy -- very good with tools, but this takes about three hands to clean and put away. And the coffee -- BLECCH. Tastes like diner coffee. We tried a few pots and then took it back to Target, which cheerfully refunded our money. If they come up with a REAL MILL we might try it.
