I am very pleased with Braun's Flavor Select KF187 model!It brews a great pot of coffee, no matter how much you want brewed, and the special plus is the water filter and the coffee filter screen that eliminates having to remember to buy coffee filters. One can still use regular paper filters and the coffee still is just as fine, but it is very nice to know that you can still make a pot of coffee if you have run out of filters with the stainless steel filter screen provided for you. I like the shape of the unit, it is attractive and tidy without taking up a large amount of counter space. It is very easy to clean and reassemble. The coffee pot comes out sparkling clean from your dishwasher to make it look brand new all the time. The digital clock and timer are an expected feature, but what is very nice is the automatic hotplate that keeps your coffee set at whatever temperature you like and will shut off after the settings are entered. Besides being a safety feature, it helps to prevent your pot from overheating and discoloring. The instruction handouts are simple to follow with picture graphics, multi-lingual and includes a booklet to order accessories such as new water filters, screen filters and other replacement parts if necessary. This is my second Braun coffee maker. I bought it to replace my older one which lasted around 12-15 years. For the price and prior history, I expect to remain satisfied with the product for quite a few years to come.

I've had my Braun KF187 B (Black) FlavorSelect 12-Cup Coffeemaker for five years, and I've never had a single problem with it. After five years and unlike other coffeemakers I've owned (MR Coffee, Cuisinart, GE to name a few), I expected the brewing time to slow down, the plastic swivel-out filter basket to warp or break,for the unit to calcify, or the warming plate to discolor or become scratched. Not with this Braun model. It continues to brew a 12 cup pot at a consistent 6 minutes (with water filter installed), and a consistently flavorful pot of coffee every day. It looks as new as the day I purchased it, and functions just as well. The carafe is desinged and called a "no drip" carafe, and it is truly no drip. My other coffeemakers' carafes claimed to be no drip; however, I needed to have a towel under my mug when pouring from a full pot to half pot. The flavor select control truly works and will allow you to make your coffee as robust as you like. The time and timer on this model are simple and easy to use/set, and the unit emits five "ear friendly" beeps when the coffee is finished brewing, and two beebs when the unit automatically shuts off after 4 hours. The only thing I would recommend is using paper filters instead of the permanent gold plated brew basket if you grind your own beans (small particulates pass through the permanent filter). Also, if you're going to use bottled water for brewing as I do, I would not worry about using the charcoal water filter because it's designed for use with unfiltered water or tap water, which I stopped using three years ago and have had no calcification issues (plus they're rather pricey and hard to find). Anyway, I hope this is of some use to you in making your coffemaker purchasing choice. Good Luck!

I have tried just about every coffeemaker on the market. Several years ago, after disappointment with my then still working Farberware electric, I purchased my first Braun Flavor Select.This was my first purchase of a drip style pot. I had been disappointed in coffee from my mother's Mr. Coffee and other drip pots. Well, not only did I purchase one with the auto shut off, but also a cheaper model for my mother's summer cottage without that feature. I have never brewed such consistently excellent coffee. I especially liked the model with auto shut-off. When I broke it, I tried other brands. Guess what? They couldn't compare. Even my husband said to go buy another Braun. It was well worth the money. The coffee is not just consistently good, but the speed at which the machine brews it is superb. Also the coffee stays very hot, even though I brew it at 6AM and my husband doesn't drink his until 8:30am, sometimes later. I wouldn't even consider another brand at this point. When people comment on the coffee, I have to admit it is the coffeemaker and not me to thank. This is an excellent product.
